Andy Warhol and Salvador DalÍ had previous dinners together. Dalí used to invite younger artists all the time. But what made this dinner at the Metropolitan Club in 1976 quite unique in 1976 was that it brought together Andy Warhol, Candice Bergen and Salvador Dalí. Andy had his tape recorder on his lap throughout the evening and Dalí was the life of the party, charming with his animated gestures and using his cane as a prop.
