DISCO MANIA

The disco crowd. Model Martin Snaric dancing (center).

Flashback to the beginning of the glory days of disco with the opening of Studio 54 in 1977. For the first time, members of high society, celebrities, what we now call influencers, and the cream of the art  and fashion worlds came together to dance, mingle, and otherwise indulge themselves under a disco ball. The uptown crowd and the downtown crowd formed a new In Crowd. In a particular, nostalgic way it was the last wild, good time before AIDS changed everything. I was caught up in all of the excitement and photographed it in black and white, my way of memorializing an electric moment that once symbolized New York.
